   About Us

The Multi Access Centres (MACs) form part of a strategy to improve skills and support the local economy. Centres are based within wards where unemployment is above the national average.

A multi-agency approach has been adopted with coordination sitting within the Adult Skills & Learning Service of Leicester City Council. The network of MACs was developed in close consultation with local communities, the voluntary and community sector plus employers.

The locally based roving service supports people living within areas of high deprivation. The multi-agency teams deliver services from locally identified venues which are used by the people we seek to work with.
The MACs provide local people with a range of services including:

Employment related information, advice and guidance (IAG) maintained for as long as the customer requires support.
Comprehensive initial assessment to ascertain training requirements.
  Support to access training.
Referral to sector specific vocational training programmes developed in consultation with employers (Routeways).
Support with CV writing, job applications, preparation for interview
Support to find relevant voluntary work experience opportunities.
Support to identify appropriate childcare facilities.
Referral and signposting to other support agencies for; welfare, benefits & financial advice, health education and legal advice.

The network of eight centres provides; services, training and a pathway to employment for adults aged 19 years and over. Whilst this is the primary role of the MAC, the combination of organisations delivering within the centres allow for the support of a range of people wishing to improve their skills and employment prospects.

The MACs seek to support people to overcome the varied barriers they have, the composition of local teams reflect the specific needs of the different communities. Referrals to organisations take place as seamlessly as possible where support cannot be provided directly. A comprehensive client management system is used by all partner organisations to ensure details of all referrals are recorded.

The MAC network has strong working links with Jobcentre Plus and other major local stakeholders
